Community Curriculum

Enhancement Curriculum

Within our academy we have a comprehensive scheduled enhancement curriculum. This is a new feature of our school day and is an exciting opportunity for our students to develop their personal and interpersonal skills and develop a suite of skills which will support them in terms of their ability to develop as a citizen, enhance their employability skills and play an active, positive role in their community. It also allows to add bespoke support to Year 10 and 11 in key subjects as part of a study skills, revision skills and wellbeing programme.

We believe in developing each individual student and offering everyone a range of cultural capital activities alongside the knowledge and skills to enable them to take an active role in their community. This programme operates daily covering a range of aspects including work on healthy and active lifestyles, PSHE, sex and relationships education, performing arts experiences, an introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and our innovative Year 9 employability curriculum. Exciting opportunities for community service and charitable activities exist here too, broadening their understanding of why these types of activity help bring communities together.

We value and support the wider role of schools in developing individuals and promoting well rounded and healthy young people. We believe it helps them add value to their community.
